The events shown in the 2019 film Pet Sematary are explained in Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which acts as a
prequel. The film, which takes place in 1969 (50 years before the events of Pet Sematary), is focused on a
young Jud Crandall. Jud’s ambition is straightforward for a young man just beginning to stretch his wings:
to permanently leave his hometown of Ludlow. However, the evil that dwells in Ludlow’s cursed grounds
soon emerges, and Jud and his companions find themselves up against a powerful, age-old force that has
the ability to wipe out everything. Audiences may anticipate learning the precise reason why Jud spent a
lifetime imprisoned in the place he first yearned to leave when they see Bloodlines, which is expected to
dramatically build upon the mythos of Pet Sematary.
