The upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the original series’ premise,
where the four nations lived in harmony until the Fire Nation’s attack. Only the Avatar can stop them, and
the story revolves around Aang and his friends’ journey to thwart Fire Lord Ozai’s quest for power.
Showrunner Albert Kim, in August 2021, expressed excitement about bringing the series to live-action,
envisioning a visually rich world with bending presented in a new, visceral way.
At Tudum, Kiawentiio, who plays Katara, shared her excitement about the bending effects and hinted at an
important episode in the first season, Episode 5, which she found particularly compelling, with characters
facing various challenges and perspectives.
The Cast And Crew
Gordon Cormier takes on the role of Aang, the carefree 12-year-old tasked with preserving balance and
peace in the world. Kiawentiio portrays Katara, a skilled waterbender, while Ian Ousley plays her brother,
Sokka, and Dallas Liu embodies the firebending royal, Zuko.
Ousley fondly recalled “haircut day” as a standout memory during filming, as it marked the moment when
the cast truly transformed into their characters. He also shared his excitement about handling Sokka’s
iconic boomerang for the first time.

The expansive world of Avatar includes a diverse cast, with Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Amber

Ousley expressed his thrill at working with actors he admired, such as Danny Pudi from Community. Liu
highlighted his valuable time spent with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who portrays Zuko’s uncle, Iroh, noting that
