Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is recruiting morally complex characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4. The current release date for Marvel’s Thunderbolts is December 20, 2024. The movie was scheduled to

debut on July 26, 2024. However, the writer’s strike forced a delay in the release. Principal filming for the

movie was supposed to start in June. Movie will now debut in 2024 with Deadpool 3 and Captain

America: Brave New World as one of the three MCU films.

The Thunderbolts cast includes Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt

Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Hannah John-Kamen. Bucky will lead the team, but details on their

dynamics are scarce. Harrison Ford takes over Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt. Ayo Edebiri

and Steven Yeun have undisclosed roles in the film. Ford will also appear in Captain America: New World

Order in 2024.

The Thunderbolts can be compared to DC’s Suicide Squad, but they have a different motivation. Unlike

the Suicide Squad, whose members are forced into dangerous missions, the Movie aim to reform

rogues and villains for public perception.

Baron Helmut Zemo, a Captain America foe, founded the Thunderbolts as a way to manipulate the public

and gain global power. His plan involved recruiting a team of former villains, including Goliath, Fixer,

Screaming Mimi, Beetle, and Moonstone They assumed new identities as Citizen V, Atlas, Techno,

Songbird, MACH-1, and Meteorite However, Zemo’s plan backfired when his teammates genuinely

reformed and overthrew him.

Over the years, many Marvel characters have been part of the Thunderbolts, including Deadpool,

Abomination, Whiplash, Venom, Norman Osborn, and others Notable heroes like Hawkeye and America

Chavez, and Spectrum have also joined the team at various points. Even Zemo has been in and out of the

group, occasionally attempting to reform but often returning to his villainous ways.

Jake Schrier, known for Robot & Frank and Paper Towns, is set to direct Thunderbolts. Despite his success

in the past, he has mainly focused on directing music videos and TV episodes. Thunderbolts will mark

Schrier’s return to feature films after nearly nine years.

The script will be written by Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Eric Pearson, who has worked on Thor: Ragnarok and

Black Widow. Kevin Feige will produce the film, as expected.
