The world needs the return of the Avatar the most. The teaser trailer for Netflix’s live-action version of the 2005 animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” was released.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the nostalgia that aficionados of the original film may anticipate due to its intricate world-building, vibrant characters, and exciting battle scenes. Even some important areas, including Omashu and the Southern Water Tribe, are visible to fans.
Like the Nickelodeon classic, the Netflix series depicts a universe in which one person, the Avatar, has the
ability to bend each of the four elements—earth, fire, water, and air. The program centers around Gordon
Cormier’s character, Avatar Aang, as he sets out on a quest to perfect every bending form, vanquish the
Fire Nation, and end a 100-year war.

The teaser showed new footage of main characters Aang, Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) and
Zuko (Gordon Cormier) as well other fan favorites like Suki (Maria Zhang) and Uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung
Lee). Fans can also see some of the show’s core villains, including Firelord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) and
Azula (Elizabeth Yu). Albert Kim will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer alongside
directors Jabbar Raisani, Michael Goi and Roseanne Liang. Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore are also
executive producers.
Fans also got to see some of the CGI-animated animal characters, Appa and Momo, in the video.
Due to creative differences, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the showrunners of the
original series, left their role in the Netflix version. Since then, the two have collaborated on an animated
picture through their company, which is scheduled for release in 2025.
On February 22, 2024, the first season of the show will debut on Netflix.
