With the success of his epic historical period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan I and II under his belt, Tollywood actor Chiyaan Vikram is gearing up for his next movie, Thangalaan. An exciting cinematic journey appears to be in store, according to the official trailer.
Renowned director Pa. Ranjith, who has helmed successful films like Sarpatta Parambarai, Kabali, Madras, and Kaala, is directing this one.
Thangalaan: Release Date
Thangalaan was initially scheduled to release on 26 January 2024, coinciding Republic Day, but was postponed as the makers wanted it to be screened at film festivals before the theatrical release. It is now scheduled to release in April 2024 in theatres.

The movie, which was once going to be called Chiyaan 61 and was said to be a period drama, is now
officially called Thangalaan. In a one-minute announcement video, the team unveiled the title on October
23, 2022, the day of Diwali. Vikram plays a tribal guy who appears to be the head of his village. He and
the other movie actors are shown in the video sporting tough clothing.
The Cast And Crew
Actor Vikram plays the movie’s title character, a community rights activist. It is one of the actor’s most
ambitious ventures, and it appears he will soon release another hit film after Ponniyin Selvan: 1 & 2.
Since its introduction, Thangalaan has also generated a lot of interest. In addition to Vikram, the film’s
main cast members include Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Parvathy
Thiruvothu.
The Plot
A. Kishor Kumar shot the cinematography, GV Prakash composed the music and background soundtrack,
and Selva RK edited the picture. Tamil Praba is the author of the narrative. The film is based on some
actual incidents and is set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Mines during the pre-independence era.
It will tell the tale of an untouchable tribal tribe and the hardships its members endured to defend their
homeland from the British authorities.

Thangalaan finds its OTT partner is Netflix, the post-theatrical rights in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam,
