Henry Cavill may not reprise his roles as Superman or Geralt, but fans can look forward to seeing him as the Bond-like lead in the upcoming spy film “Argylle” (2023). Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the action-comedy is set to be the first of a three-picture franchise, featuring stories in various locations. The star-studded cast, including pop sensation Dua Lipa, has generated excitement among spy genre enthusiasts. Details, from the release date to the plot, are eagerly anticipated for this new film from the creator of the Kingsman franchise.
‘Argylle’: Release Date
Apple has joined forces with Universal to bring “Argylle” to theaters on February 2, 2024, pitting it
against Warner Bros’ crime film “Alto Knights” and Lionsgate/Blumhouse’s horror flick “Imaginary,” both
led by Robert De Niro. This collaboration follows Apple’s previous theatrical releases with Paramount for
Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and with Sony Pictures for Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon.” As an
Apple TV+ original, “Argylle” will hit the streaming platform after its theatrical run.

The Cast And Crew
Cavill, as was previously announced, is set to play Argylle, the title spy. This was meant to be the actor’s
acting debut, but because the singer already made a famous cameo in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, it will
actually be her second film role. The actor will co-star alongside Dua Lipa. The film’s title track and score
will feature vocals by the three-time Grammy winner.
In “Argylle,” Bryce Dallas Howard, known for her role in Jurassic World, takes on the pivotal role of Elly
Conway, the primary character and author of the book series that Henry Cavill’s superspy hails from. Sam
Rockwell, an Academy Award winner for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, portrays Aiden, a
superspy determined to safeguard Elly from ominous forces.
The film’s antagonist, played by Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking
Bad), remains shrouded in mystery. Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) steps into the role of
Elly’s mother, while Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) joins as an ally to Elly and
Aiden. John Cena (The Suicide Squad) and Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story)
assume the roles of literary allies to Henry Cavill’s superspy character. Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The
Secret Service) and Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2) have also been cast in undisclosed roles. Notably, Elly’s cat,
Alfie, is portrayed by director Matthew Vaughn’s own family cat, Chip.
