In 2012, Seth MacFarlane introduced the comedy “Ted,” featuring a walking, talking stuffed bear. The film follows John and his childhood toy, Ted, as he comes to life. A Ted 3 wasn’t on the cards, but a prequel series was announced in 2021 by Peacock. The series explores the early years of John and Ted’s adventures, offering insights into their friendship. Details include the cast, creative team, and plot, building anticipation for the upcoming series.
‘Ted’ Prequel Series: Release Date
On January 11, the entire seven-episode Ted series will be available for streaming. Along with other programmes based on well-known NBCUniversal IPs as Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, The Best Man: The Final Chapter, Saved by the Bell, and Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, the “event series” will make its premiere exclusively on Peacock.

The Cast and Crew
Seth MacFarlane reprises his role as the voice of Ted in the upcoming Ted prequel series, while the original cast mostly doesn’t return. Max Burkholder stars as young John Bennett, with Alanna Ubach as John’s mother, Scott Grimes as John’s father, and Giorgia Whigham as John’s cousin Blaire. MacFarlane, known for Family Guy and The Orville, brings back Ted’s voice. The new cast members have diverse backgrounds, including roles in Parenthood, Euphoria, and The Punisher, adding fresh talent to the Ted franchise.
The Plot
The official synopsis for the Ted series reads:
In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.
SOURCE BY COLLIDER
It’s anticipated that viewers will discover more about Ted’s life before he became the crude friend they know and adore in the films. According to earlier comments made by MacFarlane, the prequel will take place in 1993 and follow Ted and John as they negotiate adolescence together.
‘Ted’ Prequel Series: Trailer
On November 16, 2023, a 30-second teaser featuring the Ted from 1993 penning a letter to the Ted from the present day was made public. The thirty-second clip pokes fun at both smartphones and Peacock’s streaming service.
Peacock published the entire trailer for the upcoming ‘Ted’ Prequel Series: on 29 November. The teaser for ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),’ a song by The Proclaimers, teases the arrival of the talking teddy bear, who will be attending high school for the first time.
