Screen Media has acquired North American rights to Renny Harlin’s high-octane action-thriller “The Bricklayer,” starring Aaron Eckhart. Slated for a summer 2023 release in theatres and on VOD, the film follows a former CIA operative (Eckhart) tasked with clearing the agency’s name amid a blackmail conspiracy. The first images showcase Eckhart and co-star Nina Dobrev in the action-packed narrative, featuring a stellar cast including Clifton Collins Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, and Ilfenesh Hadera. The Bricklayer: Release date
Eckhart most recently starred in the 2023 movies Rumble Through the Dark, Muzzle, and Ambush. Dobrev starred in Netflix’s action-comedy The Out-Laws this year, as well as in the comedy Sick Girl.
The Bricklayer releases in theatres and digitally on January 5, 2024.

The Cast And Crew
Adapted from a novel by former FBI agent Paul Lindsay (using the pen name Noah Boyd), the film also stars Clifton Collins Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, and Ilfenesh Hadera.
The Plot
The plot revolves around a rogue insurgent who blackmails the CIA by assassinating foreign journalists to make it look like the agency’s doing. As other countries turn against the U.S., the CIA calls upon Steve Vail (played by Eckhart), their most skilled and rebellious operative, who’s now in retirement. Tasked with clearing the agency’s name, he must confront his past while uncovering an international conspiracy.

The film was produced by Jeffrey Greenstein, Yariv Lerner, Jonathan Yunger, Heidi Jo Markel, and Robert Van Norden; executive producers were Les Weldon, Boaz Davidson, Erik Lindsay, Tanner Mobley, and Avi Lerner. The screenplay was written by Hanna Weg and Matt Johnson. Vertical’s Peter Jarowey and Tony Piantedosi, along with the production’s Jeffrey Greenstein and J.J. Nugent, negotiated the transaction.
