Avengers 5, titled “The Kang Dynasty,” is facing behind-the-scenes changes. Jonathan Majors was dropped due to legal issues, and director Destin Daniel Cretton left in November 2023. Michael Waldron has joined as a writer, replacing Jeff Loveness. The film is part of the double-bill concluding The Multiverse Saga before Avengers: Secret Wars. Avengers 5 release date

Marvel postponed Avengers: The Kang Dynasty until June 2023; it will now open in theatres on May 1, 2026.

This results in the rescheduling of Avengers: Secret Wars from May 5, 2026, to May 7, 2027, a one-year delay from its original May 2, 2025 release date.

We still don’t know when production will begin or if the alterations made behind the scenes will cause the picture to be delayed much further.

Due to legal concerns, Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang the Conqueror in Avengers 5, has been dropped by Marvel. It’s unclear what will happen to Kang in the MCU; Marvel may decide to recast or replace the character. Following the dismantling of the original Avengers squad, possible replacements include Doctor Strange, War Machine, Hawkeye, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Sam Wilson as Captain America, and Valkyrie. Films about the Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, and New Avengers are reportedly in production. The MCU may have better representation if minority characters like America Chavez, Wiccan, Hulkling, and Prodigy are included. In an interview, Chris Hemsworth’s character Thor alluded to a potential appearance in Avengers 5.

Avengers 5 plot

At first, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania seemed to be laying the groundwork for why Kang would be a formidable foe in the future.

It looked like the Kang we saw in the Quantum Realm, who was trying to break free and return to reality in normal size, had been crushed to death.

However, the mid-credit scene of the movie unveiled a council of Kangs, led by the actual big evil, Immortus, who calls out “all of us” Kangs and inspires them with the words, “Let’s stop wasting time, because they will take everything we built.”

We had assumed that this would serve as the foundation for the upcoming film, but it’s uncertain if Kang will still be the antagonist once Majors leaves.

Avengers 5 trailer release or not?

The fact that the release date has been postponed also implies that we won’t see anything from Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for even longer—probably not until at least 2025.

How many movies are there for Avengers?

There were four Avengers movies released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). These movies are:

1. The Avengers (2012):

Also directed by Joss Whedon, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” follows the Avengers as they face a new threat, the sentient AI Ultron (James Spader), created by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). The team must stop Ultron from causing global extinction.

3. Avengers: Infinity War (2018):

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Infinity War” is the beginning of the culmination of the Infinity Saga. The Avengers, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy and other allies, face the powerful Thanos (Josh Brolin) as he seeks to collect the Infinity Stones to bring balance to the universe.

4. Avengers: Endgame (2019):

Also directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Endgame” is the epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga. The surviving Avengers, along with new and returning allies, devise a plan to undo the devastating events of “Infinity War” and defeat Thanos.

These four movies were key components of the overarching narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
