With Gyeongseong Creature’s post-credit scene, Netflix deceived viewers by turning a heartbreaking but satisfying finale into bait for a follow-up. People didn’t have to endure uncertainty for very long, as Netflix revealed Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 just a few days after the finale aired. Permit the horrors to go on!
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2: Release date
While the shocking cliffhanger in the K-drama will be resolved in a second season, relieving fans that the implications aren’t up to their imagination, viewers will likely have to wait patiently to find out what’s going on with… all that (we’ll get into potential explanations in a sec, promise!).
Apart from reaffirming that the tale will indeed continue, Netflix has been quite silent and hasn’t yet disclosed a release date. It took about a year for Netflix to release the first season. Based on such details, we may estimate that Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 might arrive on the streaming platform by the beginning of 2025.

The Cast And Crew
It has been announced that actress Han So-hee and her co-star Park Seo-jun will return in the second season, despite the fact that Chae-ok appeared to have passed away at the end of the first.
That could indicate several things, and the descendant theory is still possible. Whether or not that is indeed Tae-sang in disguise, Park Seo-jun will portray Ho-jae. There are other ramifications to Han So-hee’s return: did Chae-ok survive the hospital’s destruction? Will she merely reappear in flashbacks and never truly visit Seoul in the present day? Or are we going into immortality or time travel with these two?
The “upcoming character developments and emotional depth of the upcoming season” have been hinted at by both actors, so let me just venture to guess that they wouldn’t be implying anything of the sort if the second season followed some of their descendants and introduced a group of new characters with exceptional genetics in the family.
However, the answers to all of these questions won’t become clear until the second season airs. Naturally, we’ll be sure to update you!
Everything we know about season 2
The post-credit scene from the first season’s finale shocked fans all over the world. Quick recap: Ongseong Hospital is destroyed and the death of some beloved characters was something to be accepted. The ending would have been solid – tragic, yes, but satisfying to end the show on.
The showrunners and writers weren’t ready to say their goodbyes, though. Time-jumping a few decades into the future from 1945 to 2024 in the last seconds of the first season, there he stands: a man named Ho-jae (are you sure about that?), looking exactly like Tae-sang back in 1945.
The theory that this person is just a descendant of his, striking a truly remarkable resemblance to his supposed (great?) grandfather, is quickly shut down after we see the scar. It seems like we’ll get into some immortality shenanigans in the second season!
Director Chung Dong-yoon has also already confirmed that there will be a clear change in the new season:
While the time period may change, as well as the name of the city (the show won’t suddenly be called Seoul Creature, though) some things still remain the same – including both leads.
