Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, Bruckheimer disclosed that the film will heavily draw from the developments that have occurred in the last thirty years in Detroit and Los Angeles, the two main cities in the franchise:
"Detroit is a much different city than Los Angeles and especially Beverly Hills. He still has the same kind of wonderment at the things you see walking down Rodeo Drive."

Who Is Making ‘Movie’?
“Movie” will mark the directorial debut of Mark Molloy, known for his success in the commercial world with projects for Apple, Go Daddy, and Nissan. Previously, directors Brett Ratner and Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah were attached to the project. Eddie Murphy, the star of the film, is also serving as a producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Melissa Reid.
