The original “Beetlejuice” film followed the story of a deceased couple, the Maitlands played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, who enlist the help of the eccentric ghost Beetlejuice to haunt the Deetz family out of their new home. The Deetz family was portrayed by Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder. The movie gained a cult following after its release and later inspired a successful musical adaptation on Broadway.
Tim Burton announced the completion of filming for the “Beetlejuice” sequel via social media last November, overcoming delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Burton mentioned in September that filming was almost complete before the shutdown, with just “a day and a half” left to film.
Expressing gratitude for what they were able to achieve despite the challenges, Burton stated, “I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”
The script for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was penned by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, known for creating the Netflix series “Wednesday,” which stars Jenna Ortega. This collaboration brings fresh energy and perspective to the beloved “Beetlejuice” universe, promising an exciting continuation for fans old and new alike.
