Cuckoo: Everything we know

Cuckoo, directed by Tilman Singer, promises a unique cinematic experience with its use of experimental and retro filming techniques. Shot on 35mm film rather than digital cameras, it follows in the footsteps of Singer’s previous work on Luz, known for its fresh approach to horror tropes.

Filmed in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, from May to June 2022, Cuckoo is currently in post-production. Singer, an emerging German filmmaker, has a track record of using innovative methods in his films, encouraging audience engagement beyond mere jump scares.

The film reunites Singer with a team of experienced crew members, including cinematographer Paul Faltzand, sound designer Henning Hein, composer Simon Waskow, and production designer Dario Mendez Acosta. Executive producers include Tom Quinn, Jeff Deutchman, Emily Thomas, and Ryan Friscia.

Produced by NEON in collaboration with Fiction Park and Waypoint Entertainment, Cuckoo has received funding from several sources, showcasing a strong backing from both German and international film organizations. Given NEON’s success with acclaimed films like Parasite, expectations are high for Cuckoo’s reception upon release.
