Kill teaser: ‘Viewer discretion is advised’ as Karan Johar

The teaser for “Kill,” produced by Karan Johar and starring Lakshya Lalwani, promises a violent and action-packed journey. Featuring intense hand-to-hand combat, the teaser reveals Lakshya’s character, Amrit, on a brutal rampage against armed attackers aboard a moving train. Raghav Juyal plays the antagonist in this thrilling debut.

As Tanya Maniktala’s character and Lakshya’s character, Amrit, are riding the Rajdhani Express, they are ambushed by a gang of armed men. Raghav Juyal, who would portray the antagonist, is also glimpsed. Amrit goes on a vicious rage the whole length of the speeding train after being forced into a corner.

As Amrit, a commando, fights off bandits to save Tulika (Tanya), who is being forced into an arranged marriage, the train transforms into a battlefield.

Since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival the previous year, Kill has been creating a lot of hype. The teaser includes multiple good quotes from the reviews it has received. Producer Karan Johar shared the teaser on social media, writing, “One night. Just one train. One motive to…#KILL (sic). The release date of the movie and a warning are also disclosed in the caption. July 5, 2024. Some viewers may find the film’s intense and unsettling due to its violent elements. It said, “Viewer discretion is advised (sic).”

The Director

Produced by Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, Kill is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. The film’s synopsis on TIFF’s official website reads, “In Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s relentless martial arts thriller, a passenger train bound for New Delhi becomes a bloody battleground of brutal close-quarters combat as a pair of commandos square off against a 40-strong army of invading bandits.”

The teaser arrives just before the release of Dev Patel’s similarly action-packed Monkey Man. Kill will be released theatrically in the United States by Lionsgate. Lakshya was originally supposed to debut with the cancelled Karan-produced film Dostana 2.
