Dark Matter cast
In “Dark Matter,” Joel Edgerton takes on the role of Jason Dessen, a respected physicist and devoted family man residing in Chicago. With a diverse acting portfolio, including appearances in “The Great Gatsby,” the Star Wars prequel trilogy, “The Stranger,” and “Master Gardener,” Edgerton brings depth and charisma to the character.
Joining Edgerton in this intriguing multiverse thriller are Jennifer Connelly, known for her roles in “Requiem for a Dream” and the upcoming “Top Gun: Maverick,” Alice Braga from “I Am Legend” and “A Murder at the End of the World,” and Jimmi Simpson, recognised for his work in the “Westworld” TV series and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
While specific details about their characters remain undisclosed, initial glimpses suggest a potential romantic connection between Edgerton’s character and Connelly’s, sparking speculation about her role as either his wife or a mysterious figure in this enigmatic universe.
Dark Matter Plot
Prior to being abducted from the streets of Chicago, Jason Dessen is an ordinary family man. When he wakes up, he finds himself transported into a different version of his own life, which is determined by choices he made in the past.
Jason attempts to return to his own reality with some assistance, but his trip leads him through other alternate lives that he has created as a result of his own prior choices. Jason will have to face his past and learn to live in two different worlds in order to return to his wife and family.
This narrative is based on the many-worlds theory of quantum physics, which postulates that every choice you make in life creates an alternate reality, as that plot summary implies.
