James Gunn, known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is spearheading a new Superman movie in the revamped DC Universe. Titled simply “Superman: Legacy,” it marks the beginning of a fresh direction for DC films. Following the conclusion of Zack Snyder’s era with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” Gunn aims to introduce a new Superman alongside reimagined versions of Batman and lesser-known DC characters. Superman: Legacy release date
The current plan is for the new Superman film to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
Even while that’s still a little off, it appears that Gunn will update us as soon as the film officially starts production. He has posted pictures of the entire ensemble together as well as the first glimpse at the new Superman logo on his Instagram page, which you can view here:
Superman: Legacy Cast
David Corenswet, known for roles in “Pearl,” “The Politician,” and “We Own This City,” was revealed as the new Superman for James Gunn’s project. Joining the ranks of iconic Superman actors like Henry Cavill and Christopher Reeve, Corenswet steps into the cape for this DC Universe reboot.
Rachel Brosnahan from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” portrays the fearless reporter Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor. Skyler Gisondo stars as Jimmy Olsen, with Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
The ensemble also features Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
Superman: Legacy Plot
Plot details are being kept under wraps for this one, but just from who the cast is playing, Superman appears to be taking a different approach to its first entry, with multiple super characters and villains set to appear.
